The growth rate of foreign trade exceeded expectations

Import and export of key regions recovered rapidly

According to the data of the General Administration of customs, China's foreign trade import and export increased by 9.5% year-on-year in May, 9.4 percentage points faster than that in April, and the growth rate in June further increased to 14.3%.

In other words, the growth rate of foreign trade returned to double digits in June. In April, the growth rate of foreign trade was only 0.1%, once close to zero growth.

Stabilizing the basic market of foreign trade is inseparable from the rapid recovery of imports and exports in some regions. Since May, with the overall improvement of the domestic epidemic prevention and control situation, the effects of various steady growth policies have gradually emerged. The import and export of the Yangtze River Delta and other regions have recovered rapidly, driving the overall growth rate of foreign trade across the country to rebound significantly.

Li Kuiwen, director of the statistics and Analysis Department of the General Administration of customs, said that China's foreign trade import and export showed strong resilience in the first half of the year. The first quarter started smoothly. In May and June, the downward trend of growth rate in April was quickly reversed, laying a solid foundation for the stability and quality improvement of foreign trade throughout the year. With the implementation of the national package of policies and measures to stabilize the economy and the orderly promotion of resumption of work and production, China's foreign trade is still expected to continue to maintain stable growth.
