One enterprise also raised the average price of waterproof wallpaper, bathroom lockers and other products by 10%, and the price of the main product windows will also rise from next month.
In fact, the rise in the price of building materials has long been expected by the industry. Last year, the price of PVC, a major raw material of windows, floors and other products, increased by 60% year-on-year. After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine this year, the international oil price soared, and the price continued to rise. Not only PVC, many polymer materials used in the decoration field in South Korea are produced based on oil, so the cost is deeply affected by the change of oil price.
Due to the pressure of unable to bear the cost, many polymer coating enterprises in South Korea have also collectively increased the price recently, including a variety of products such as paint and water-based paint, with a price increase of up to 30%. When consumers buy a bucket of ordinary 4-liter latex paint, they have to spend about 21 yuan more. Under the epidemic situation, it is more expensive to invite decoration workers than before. Now the prices of main and auxiliary decoration materials have increased, making consumers more burdened.
Korean small and medium-sized enterprises that produce plastic building materials also said that most of them are labor-intensive. Labor and water and electricity costs are not small expenses. The sharp rise in raw material prices has greatly reduced the profit space. Under the background of high global commodity prices, small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises with wood and non-ferrous metals as raw materials are also facing the same dilemma. South Korea's Ministry of small and medium-sized risk enterprises said yesterday that it would implement the group purchase mode of raw materials and allow enterprises to purchase together to save costs. Experts also suggested that South Korea formulate more countermeasures to combat hoarding and reduce import tariffs on raw materials.
